School Development Project | Gaza High School

In its quest to uplift the socio-economic status of the stakeholders, Indofil Industries Limited in collaboration with Ballygunge Society for Environment & Development (BSED), extended its hands towards the all-round development of one of the destitute schools in rural Bengal.
Gaza High school is a secondary school in Chitrasali, Hooghly district. With a bunch of dedicated teachers, the school provides education to over 500 students, who are mainly agrarian in nature and economically challenged. Despite Government thrust to provide uninterrupted education, the school has a high percentage of drop outs owing to inability to pay the monthly fees (merely Rs.132 p.a). Besides, lack of basic amenities like urinal, drinking water and recreation facilities at the school adds to the lesser interest of the children to schools.
At this juncture, Indofil & BSED reached out to the cause and on 5th February, 2013 inaugurated an array of developmental activities in the school. School garden, topiary, ladies urinal, computer class room with Computer & teacher, furnishing of the staff room are some of the facilities ushered on the 5th February, 2013. The interest of the students at the computer teaching room was immense. The enthusiasm & eagerness of the teachers and students were very high who presented a drama on Environment on the inauguration programme, masterly directed by the teachers of the school. Local veterans, teachers and eminent personalities of the area highly lauded the initiative from Indofil & BSED and hoped that these activities might lure the local children back to school and arrest the drop outs.
